Frequently Asked Questions

  • Kinesiology is a gentle, holistic approach that helps you understand what your body is trying to tell you. Through light muscle monitoring, it highlights where stress or imbalance may be sitting—physically, emotionally, or energetically—so your body can return to a more balanced, supported state.

It blends modern understanding of the body with elements of traditional Chinese medicine, allowing us to work with the whole person rather than just the symptoms. While kinesiology doesn’t diagnose or replace medical care, many people find it a powerful complement to their wellbeing routine, helping them feel clearer, calmer, and more in tune with themselves.

  • A kinesiologist helps identify where stress or imbalance may be affecting your body, emotions, or energy. Through gentle muscle monitoring, they gain insight into what your body is responding to and what it needs support with.

The role of a kinesiologist is to guide and support, working alongside you to help restore balance and wellbeing at a pace that feels right for you.

  • Kinesiology can support you in easing stress, shifting emotional blocks, and improving how your body feels and functions day-to-day. By gently uncovering what’s sitting underneath your symptoms, we can work with the root cause rather than just the surface layer.

Clients often notice changes such as feeling calmer, clearer, more grounded, and better able to cope with whatever life is throwing at them. It’s a supportive way to reconnect with your body and create space for genuine, lasting wellbeing.

  • People come to kinesiology when they’re feeling out of balance—emotionally, physically, or mentally—and want support that looks at the whole picture rather than just one part. You might see a kinesiologist if you’re experiencing stress, trouble switching off, recurring patterns you can’t seem to shift, low energy, or feelings of being “stuck.”

Others seek kinesiology to improve focus, emotional resilience, confidence, or simply to feel more grounded and connected to themselves. It’s a supportive way to understand what your body is holding onto and help bring it back into a more balanced, aligned state.

  • Yes. Chronic pain is often the body’s way of signalling that something is out of balance—physically, emotionally, or energetically. Kinesiology listens to what your body is trying to tell you and works gently to uncover underlying tension, stress, or unresolved emotions that may be contributing to discomfort.

By addressing both the physical and emotional layers, many people notice a reduction in pain, greater ease of movement, and a deeper sense of relief.

Kinesiology doesn’t replace medical care, but it can be a powerful complement, helping your body release what it’s holding and supporting long-term wellbeing.

  • Yes! That’s actually one of the most common reasons people come to see me. Kinesiology can help calm your nervous system, release built-up stress, and restore your energy, so you feel more grounded and resilient.

  • Absolutely. Kinesiology is gentle, safe, and easily adapted to suit children and teenagers at any stage. It can support things like emotional regulation, confidence, stress, focus, and general wellbeing in a way that feels comfortable and age-appropriate.

Sessions are always guided by what they need on the day, creating a calm, supportive space where they can feel heard and understood.

  • Josie Holt Kinesiology offers both in clinic and online appointments available. My clinics are located in Appin and Hurlstone Park, Sydney, NSW.

All sessions are designed to offer the same level of care and support, whether you're visiting in person or connecting from home.

  • An online session is suitable for anyone in any location. Energetic surrogation is used for the purpose of muscle testing with the remainder of the protocol navigated the same as if we were face to face. Throughout the session you are actively involved in the protocol.

  • A kinesiology session is relaxed, gentle, and tailored entirely to you. We start with a short chat about what’s been going on for you and what you’d like support with. From there, I use light muscle monitoring to identify where stress or imbalance may be sitting in the body.

Together, we work through techniques that may include acupressure points, gentle corrections, emotional stress release, or other supportive methods to help your body shift what it no longer needs to hold. Most people find the process calming, insightful, and surprisingly grounding.

Every session looks a little different, because it’s guided by what your body needs on the day.

  • Sessions last 60-90 minutes, Children under 16 years have 45 minute sessions.

  • It depends on what you're coming in for, but many people start with a few sessions close together, then move into more occasional visits as things improve. We’ll always tailor the plan to suit you.

  • Some people feel shifts right away, like more energy, less tension, or a calmer mind. For others, the changes are more subtle and unfold over time. Everyone responds a little differently, and that’s okay.

  • Just wear something comfortable that you can move easily in.
